About DLR Ground Station Network

The Ground Station Network of DLR (myGSN.DE) consists of several sites:

  • the ground station Neustrelitz (NSG) in the north-east of Germany, specialized in scientific data acquisition for both national and international missions

  • the ground station Weilheim (WHM) in the south of Germany, focusing on TT&C LEOP and IOT services for LEO, GEO and deep space activities

The network is augmented by two international DLR sites:

  • the ground station Inuvik (INU, Canada)

  • and the ground station O’Higgins (OHG, Antarctica), focusing on all services for polar-orbiting spacecrafts

As well as mobile ground stations and optical ground stations.

Central part of the network is the Network Operations Center (NOC) located in Oberpfaffenhofen, south-west of Munich, Germany, providing network and communication solutions for wide spectrum of space missions, from cubesats, earth observation, geostationary, deep space up to human spaceflight, using those four DLR ground stations as well as partner stations over the entire Earth.

Over the years, all these DLR assets grew to become full multi-mission systems serving all types of customers and projects, providing wide number of services. Together, NSG, WHM, INU, OHG, and NOC form the GSN-DE, the DLR Ground Station Network. At the same time, all entities remain independent from each other and can be arranged according to customer desires.
